About us

Founded in Sydney in 2014, ezyCollect by Sidetrade is Australia's leading Order-to-Cash platform for small and mid-sized businesses. We automate credit management, collections, and payments - taking the manual work out of getting paid. Our 1,100+ customers manage A$19 billion in receivables through the platform, typically cutting late payments by 40% and bad debt by 80% within three months.

Now part of global AI leader Sidetrade, we're scaling our reach across three continents - bringing enterprise-grade technology to the mid-market while staying true to our Sydney roots. Australian innovation. Global ambition.

Why this role exists

We're transitioning from a traditional SaaS company to an AI-first platform. The technical challenges are real: modernising and automating our infrastructure, designing systems that scale, and pushing the boundaries of what AI can do in the fintech space.

As a DevOps Engineer at ezyCollect by Sidetrade, you'll ensure our infrastructure platform is humming smoothly and our products have a stable, performant platform supporting them. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to set up the right tools, services, and processes that allow us to release software at speed - while ensuring our systems are secure, performant, and resilient.

This isn't a keep-the-lights-on role. You'll be building infrastructure that enables AI-powered workflows, modernising legacy systems, and creating the foundation for the next generation of our platform. You'll have a real impact on how we scale and how fast we can ship.

Your team

You'll work across engineering teams, collaborating with backend engineers, product teams, and leadership to deliver infrastructure that enables everyone to move faster. The culture is collaborative, autonomous, and pragmatic - we value getting things done over process for process's sake.

You'll have autonomy to propose ideas, improve existing processes, and automate away repetitive tasks. If you see a better way to do something, you're empowered to make it happen.

What you'll be doing

Design, implement, and maintain scalable infrastructure. Build and maintain our AWS-based infrastructure to allow our products to scale and be resilient. Ensure overall availability, performance, security, and scalability of the infrastructure platform. You're not just maintaining what's there - you're designing what comes next.

Enable fast, reliable software releases. Implement and improve practices for releasing software to end customers. Build CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and create the infrastructure that lets engineering teams ship confidently and quickly. Work with tools like CircleCI, GoCD, GitHub Actions, and others to optimise our release process.

Automate everything. Propose ideas and solutions to improve existing processes and reduce workload through automation. Script and develop across multiple programming languages (Shell, Python, JS, Ruby) to automate away repetitive tasks. If something can be automated, you make it happen.

Collaborate and support development teams. Work closely with development teams and provide guidance and support related to infrastructure needs throughout the development lifecycle. You're a partner to engineering, not a gatekeeper. Help teams understand infrastructure constraints, optimise performance, and ship better products.

Monitor, observe, and improve. Actively look for opportunities to improve availability and performance by applying learnings from monitoring and observation. Use tools like Prometheus, ELK, and CloudWatch to understand system behaviour, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues before they impact customers.

Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues. Respond to alerts, investigate issues in our services, and perform root cause analysis. Troubleshoot, identify root causes, and fix issues in our infrastructure. Provide performance tuning and recommendations for components and services. You're on the frontline when things break, and you know how to fix them fast.

Own Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code. Manage and optimise our Kubernetes clusters, Helm charts, and Terraform configurations. You're comfortable with container orchestration, infrastructure as code, and building systems that are reproducible and maintainable.

What you'll bring

You have 4+ years of solid AWS experience as a DevOps Engineer and 2+ years with Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform. You've built production infrastructure on AWS, know how to make it secure and scalable, and are comfortable managing Kubernetes clusters and writing infrastructure as code.

You have professional experience in Linux/Unix environments and can code in at least one of: Shell, Python, JS, or Ruby. You're comfortable on the command line, debugging system-level issues, and writing scripts to automate tasks. You're not just an operator - you're a builder.

You have hands-on experience with observability tools (Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch), CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, GoCD, GitHub Actions), and source control (GitLab, GitHub). You understand networking concepts in cloud services and know how to build automated testing and deployment processes.

Bonus points for AWS certifications, experience in fast-paced SaaS businesses, working in compliance-standard environments (ISO 27001, SOC 2), and working remotely with international teams. You're comfortable collaborating across time zones.

Our tech stack
